Welcome

Hutton & Shenfield Choral Society in Brentwood was established in 1967, and currently with around 130 members, is the largest choral society in Brentwood and one of the leading choirs in South Essex.

We have an enviable reputation in the area and throughout its history the choral society has attracted large appreciative audiences and critical acclaim.

As a registered charity, we are dependent on your support and generosity, either by attending our events, or by getting involved by becoming a member, or Friend.

New members are always welcome and there are vacancies in all sections particularly for male singers!

The Society seeks to help music making by young people in the Brentwood area and each year it invites a choir from a local primary school to take part in its Christmas concert, giving the children a platform to sing to a large audience. In addition, the Society helps young people financially through its Mary Cook Award scheme. Each year small awards are made to the music departments of nominated primary schools and periodically bursaries are awarded to young people going on to tertiary education to study music, particularly singing.

We actively seek to encourage younger singers and our subscription policy reflects this.
