There are a number of ways that you can support and get involved with the Society, as well as attending our events. From time to time we hold open rehearsals, details of which are shown on the website. We welcome good singers to the choir If you would like to learn more please contact us. If you would like to help the choir in its fundraising activities, you can do so at no cost to yourselves by using the following search engine when you surf the net. Click onto www.clicknow.org.uk/hscs and this will generate income for the Society. Thank you for your help.
We are always looking for new voices for all parts. If you would like to join or just to ask about the Choral Society and its activities, please contact the acting Hon. Secretary Mrs Esme Burton, 96 Worrin Road, Shenfield Brentwood CM 15 8JL (01277 228077) and she will be delighted to help you. We are particularly interested in first sopranos and male singers at this time. Our rehearsals will be taking place at 7.30 on Monday evenings at We rehearse for an hour and then have a refreshment break during which any notices are conveyed. We then continue until 9.30, occasionally overrunning. Members are expected to attend at least 75% of rehearsals to sing at any concert though the Musical Director has the last word. Subscriptions are fixed at the Annual General Meeting which is held in October each year. We actively seek to encourage younger singers and our subscription policy reflects this. Currently the subscription rate is £135 (£115 for senior citizens) and £10 for under 25's. This covers all of the costs of rehearsals, society administration and the costs of music all of which is provided. Given the number of rehearsals, this works out at less than £3.00 per night, including the interval drinks! If you would like to find out more, please contact info@hscs.org.uk |

The cost of our concerts is very high and all of the standard concerts make a loss. We receive a small grant each year from the Brentwood Arts Council, for which we are extremely grateful, but as with all amateur music making, our continuing success depends upon our being able to sell tickets at a reasonable price. We launched the Friends of Hutton & Shenfield Choral Society a number of years ago and we are grateful for the financial and practical support of those who have joined the group. By paying a small subscription and becoming a Friend you know that you will be helping us to continue to provide you with the standard of music you expect of us. In return you will be entitled to reserved seats at our concerts and to join in our occasional social events. If you are a taxpayer, you can make your contribution even more valuable to us by completing a Gift Aid Declaration. For further details please contact |
